About the Central Library

Central Library Kakojan College was established in 1967 and is one of the academic resources support facility for faculty and students of the college. The library is centrally located with open access system, and it provides the necessary impetus for the intellectual progress of the students, teachers and others around. Kakojan College Library used SOUL ILMS from 2008 to Dec, 2018 and switched to KOHA ILMS in Jan, 2019 and has Barcode technolog. The library is equipped with CCTV cameras for surveillance and the entire library complex is Wi-Fi enabled. It has separate reading rooms for faculty and students. All students, faculty and staff of the college can access the library by taking on its membership. A distinct digital library section is present in Central Library. Computers have been installed in the library and all are connected to the internet through which users can access E-resources. The library is an active member of the National Library and Information Services Infrastructure for Scholarly Content (N-LIST) and the National Digital Library of India (NDLI). The library patrons can access 1,99,500 + E-books and 6,000+E-journals available in the N-LIST database and 8,78,67,300 + E-books through NDLI. The library also offers reprographic service. The Online Public Access Catalogue (OPAC) is made available for library users to know the status of the availability of the books and documents in the library. The library upgraded its digital library by using D-Space digital library software where resources published by the college and its faculties, question papers of previous years, rare books and reports will be preserved in digitized form. Apart from the regular students of the institution, the facilities of the library have been utilized by the students of the study centre of Krishna Kanta Handique State Open University (KKHSOU) and Distance Education Study Centre under Dibrugarh University. To promote reading habits among the users the library has introduced the "Best Library User" award which is distributed on the occasion of college Foundation Day.
